Copy elements may include information related to Product Identity, Marketing Copy, Claims, Net Content, Warnings and Caution statements, Usage instructions, Consumer Relations info, Ingredients and Nutrition Panel info, Manufacturing and Distribution info, Trademarks and Copyrights, Symbols and Icons and any other information that needs to be put on the packaging. Many designs share pieces of these copy elements. Some are mandatorily required by FDA and other regulatory agencies. Other content simply recurs on different variants of a shared design. The consequences of missing any of these elements across SKUs would result in loss of brand value, product recalls, and lost sales. Packaging designers would be manually given updated content to be incorporated into new SKUs. This leads to typing errors, mistakes in copying and pasting data, inconsistencies in adding relevant copy elements different across different SKUs, and more. The growing number of SKUs has resulted in an explosive volume of artworks. As a result, most content is copied and the errors are the outcome of the copy-paste slips that result in re-work, delays in launches, and sometimes even recalls.
