What is “Data Privacy”? In very basic language, data privacy means having control over your personal information — like your name, mobile number, Aadhaar, bank account details, location, health records, etc. It’s about knowing: Who is collecting my data? Why are they collecting it? What are they doing with it? Can I say no? Can I ask them to delete it? Till recently, there was no single Indian law that gave clear answers to these questions. But now, with the DPDP Act, there is one.
