FINITE ELEMENT ANALYSIS

Category: Technology

Finite Element Analysis (FEA) is a computer-aided engineering (CAE) tool used to analyze how a design reacts under real-world conditions. Useful in structural, vibration, and thermal analysis, FEA has been widely implemented by automotive companies. It’s used by design engineers as a design tool during the product development process because it allows them to analyze their own designs while they are still in the form of easily modifiable CAD models, providing quick turnaround times and ensuring prompt implementation of analysis results in the design process. While FEA software is readily available, successful use of FEA as a design tool still requires an understanding of FEA basics, familiarity with the FEA process and commonly used modeling techniques, and an appreciation of inherent errors and their effect on the quality of results. When used properly, the FEA becomes a tremendous productivity tool, helping design engineers reduce product development time and cost. Misapplication of FEA, however, may lead to erroneous design decisions, which are very expensive to correct later in the design process.FEA is the practical application and solution to the finite element method (FEM), which is used by engineers in order to mathematically model and numerically solve complex structural, fluid and multiphysics problems. The FEA software can be most commonly used in the aeronautical, biomechanical and automotive industries. The key differentiator of Simcenter 3D is the strong CAD to CAE associativity, which allows automatic CAE model generation based on the CAD model. We can realize a huge improvement of  work methodology thanks to the integration of the design and simulation tools in our development process, allows up to 60 percent reduction in time for CAE model preparation. Fluidmech partners with SIEMENS software.A finite element (FE) model comprises a system of points, called “nodes”, which form the shape of the design and it contains the mesh responsible for defining how it will react to certain conditions. The density of the mesh varies throughout the material, depending upon the anticipated change in stress levels of a stipulated area. The points of interest includes fracture points of previously tested material, fillets, corners, complex detail and other high-stress areas. To make sure that the design will be able to perform to requirements prior to manufacture, FEA can be utilised in the design of new products or to improve an existing product. FEA helps in the reduction of physical prototyping and testing and optimizesdesigns and reduces material usage. FEA is also responsible for predicting and improving product performance and reliability. Fluidmech executed many projects where weight reduction for variety of machines and assemblies was carried out. For example weight reduction of truck trailor, machinery of a food processing equipment, jigs and fixture weight reduction. Fluidmech uses the robust software STAR CCM+ from SIEMENS. This aids the user carryout the design optimization, quick turnaround time, Efficient design. STARCCM+ is the best known software in the industry because it is userfriendly. And easy to learn and robust meshing technology. It is the best choice for a feat that increases efficiency, low cost of entry and approachable interface. Siemens has Fluidmech as its authorized partner, NX and Solid edge that tackles 3D modeling in Fluidmech in a number of different ways like digital sculpting, mesh-based modelling, effective and all rounder usage of analog computing and parametric modelling. It is hard to convey just what sets Fluidmech apart.
