India is known as the “nation of festivals” because of its tremendous diversity, intriguing culture, and distinctive traditions. Some of these occasions and traditions have a long history and are still practiced today. The Teej festival, which is celebrated in three different ways as Hariyali Teej, Kajari Teej, and Hartalika Teej, is one of these occasions. In the northern Indian states of Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Jharkhand, it is the most widely observed event. It is customary to observe the Hartalika Teej fast on the third day of Shukla Paksha in the Bhadrapada month. Suhagan women maintain this fast without drinking or eating anything to preserve the longevity of their husband.
