How to Successfully Deep Clean Your Home
Category: Home & Garden
There are very few times – if any at all – when deep cleaning your home sounds fun. The last thing you want to do after a long day of working or taking care of the kids is whip out the gloves, get down on your hands and knees and scrub the floors like they used to in earlier years. But if deep cleaning does not take place, the mess just continues to build, ultimately creating more difficult job for the future. If homeowners simply ignore deep cleaning their homes, the chances of sickness in your home are more likely. Winter is the perfect time to clean your home because you are inside anyway, and illnesses are full blown in the cold months, so lessen your chances of getting sick by following these tips to deep clean and organize your home. The importance of pre-cleaning Homeowners will easily become overwhelmed with all the messes they have to clean if they do not take the chance to pre-clean. According to Ruth Soukup, a decent pre-clean includes jobs like picking up clutter, washing and putting away dishes, and wiping down counters or cleaning up other messes. Pre-cleaning clears away the surface clutter so you can clean a little deeper without being overwhelmed by clutter. Top to bottom cleaning When deep cleaning your home, it is smart to start from the top and work your way to the bottom. Dust and clean areas that are above your head that you do not look at every day such as air vents, tall cabinets, ceiling fans, light fixtures, windows and other areas that are not looked at closely on a daily basis. The reason you want to start from the top and work your way to the bottom is because dust and dirt fall to the ground, so save yourself from having to clean even more by starting at the top. If it is easier for you to start in one room and not move on to the next until it is completely clean from top to bottom, go ahead and work that way. Adjust cleaning to your lifestyle so you do not become overwhelmed or stressed. Cleaning your home should rid you of some stress and anxiety, not create it. Properly organizing your home Once your home is cleaned from top to bottom, it is time to organize your home in order to avoid messes from continually creeping up on you and getting out of hand. Organize all the closets with baskets, bins, shelves and whatever other items it takes in order for all of your belongings to have a specific place of residence. Get rid of clutter that takes up valuable space. Get rid of clothes and shoes that do not fit you anymore. Get rid of broken toys. Opening up more space in your home will make it feel even cleaner, and give you more room for things you will acquire over time. Just live without clutter!
