Inspired by the recent Tamil blockbuster release Ponniyin Selvan 1 (aka PS-1), Ideas2IT’s employees took the opportunity to create renewed interest in the Chola dynasty (300s BCE to 1279 CE). Ideas2IT employees used their new office in Guindy, Chennai, to create a comprehensive experience centre with dozens of 3D mockups to illustrate famed Chola-dynasty personalities, their stories and achievements, milestone events, architectural monuments, and the region. For example, one 3D mockup depicts the flow of the Ponni river, the various towns and cities it flows through, the important palaces and temples in its path, and the people who ruled the region. Another 3D mockup illustrates the scene at Kadambur Maligai where several chieftains meet to conspire against Emperor Sundara Cholar, replete with Azhwarkadiyan spying on the meeting from atop a wall. Yet another 3D mockup is dedicated to Nandhinee, the wife of Periya Pazhuvettaraiyar and explains her angst against the Chola dynasty. Several installations also represent the family tree of the Chola dynasty and Arulmozhi Varman’s achievements as a navy-leading prince and able administrator. The Ideators also launched a Tamil word game at https://ponniyinselvan.ideas2it.com, featuring prominent characters and places from Ponniyin Selvan, the acclaimed novel by Kalki. To end the day, Ideas2IT also conducted a Chola-themed fancy-dress competition for their employee’s children. Over 50 children arrived, dressed up as Rajaraja Cholar, Azhwarkadiyan, Ilaiya Piratti Kundavai, Nandhinee, and more. Few others are actually visiting the architectural marvels in Thanjavur, Gangaikonda Cholapuram, and more.
