LinkedIn New Update For Mobile App With Its Great Features Now Available for Android and iOS
Category: Technology
Although a LinkedIn app was already available on both mobile platforms, it's been completely redesigned to look more like a social app. LinkedIn now back in October introduced redesigned mobile app for users and promised to roll it out soon. The social networking platform for professionals has now started rolling out the redesigned Android and iOS app. For users on Android and iOS, the LinkedIn app is now available via Google Play and App Store, respectively. The company touts that the new app has been built from scratch and stresses on simplifying the overall user experience. The app has been streamlined into five core segments - Feed, Me, My Network, Messaging, and Search. Feed will show content from the social network based on what is relevant for the user in industry, function, and skills combined. The new app will enable users to follow content that they are interested in and unfollow things that are not. "For the first time, as part of a lightweight onboarding process, we are going to ask you what content you are interested in, and over time you can also unfollow things that are less valuable to you," explains the company blog. The Me section will include the user's profile including - who's viewed profile, who is commenting on, or sharing posts. The My Network section in the app will include daily briefing of what's happening in user's professional network. The new Messaging section will include ways to connect to user's social circle via casual ways rather than mails. Lastly, the Search is said to be now "300 percent faster and a lot smarter." The company claims that the new app launcher feature seamlessly launches into other LinkedIn apps for dedicated and deeper experiences such as Pulse, Groups, Job Search, etc. "We've not only rebuilt the new Flagship app from scratch but we have taken everything you love and more to develop a mobile experience that is more intuitive, smarter and dramatically simplifies your LinkedIn experience. We know time is scarce, so we made it as easy as possible for you to connect to your professional network and stay informed about the conversations and content most relevant to you," said Joff Redfern, VP of Product, in a blog post. Aside from the visual changes, LinkedIn developers have also included many new features into five core areas: Your Feed, Me, My Network, Messaging, and Search. On the Your Feed tab, users will be able to see all content from their network to help with their professional day. This is where you can find the most relevant information for your industry, function, and skills combined with what conversations and content you care about. Your Feed is the default home screen, and it includes news and commentary from your network based on what LinkedIn algorithms determine to be the most relevant for your industry, function, skills and conversations. You're asked to select content of interest when you first launch the app, and you can also "un-follow" topics if things get too noisy. Me, your profile page, surfaces all activity related to who views your profile and who comments on or shares your posts. My Network serves up a "daily briefing" of what happened in your network on a given day, including new posts and suggestions to help keep you connected or congratulate other connections on new roles or work anniversaries. LinkedIn also integrated its new Messaging format into the app, and it's designed to provide a more casual and lightweight communication method. Finally, LinkedIn says it improved the speed of its Search by 300 percent. Search is also more contextually aware, according to the company, and it starts to display results before you finish typing. You can now sync it with your calendar The Me tab shows your professional brand, where you will see all the information about you, such as the persons who viewed your profile, who is commenting on or sharing your posts. My Network is a daily briefing of what has happened lately in your professional network. You can also sync your calendar to help you with your next meeting, as LinkedIn will provide you with details on the person you are meeting with before that happens. Messaging service has been turned into a more chat-like application rather than email. It allows you to initiate conversations more quickly. Last but not least, Search function promises to be 300% faster. It's also said to offer more accurate results than before. You can now download LinkedIn for Android for free via Google Play Store. The application should be fully compatible with all devices running Android 4.0 and up. For iOS users, the application can be downloaded for free via App Store. It should work smoothly on all devices running iOS 8.0 and newer. - See more at: http://www.khanstory.com/2015/12/linkedin-new-update-for-mobile-app-with.html#sthash.1QXppBS0.dpuf
