The UPSC Civil Services Exam is one of the most prestigious exams in India. It is attempted by lakhs of people across the country every year. However, only a tiny fraction of them can fulfill their IAS ambitions. The IAS exam is not only challenging in terms of the length of its syllabus, but it is also daunting because of its highly unpredictable nature. Based on all these experiences, I am gonna tell you some magical tips, you must follow if you wanna crack the IAS examination. Tip #1: Makeup your mind or Prepare Yourself Before trying to understand how to start preparing for UPSC you should prepare your mind for this journey. Mental and physical preparation is more important before starting your preparation. You need to set your goals and time devotion effectively. Tip #2: Make a routine and timetable • To become an IAS officer, it is required to follow discipline like an officer with a well-organized daily routine. • You need to prepare a timetable before your preparation and try to stick. • The timetable helps you to prepare for the exam. you can evaluate the time and meet the deadline as well, which helps you to complete the syllabus more effectively and faster. • Analyze your strengths and weaknesses, so that you can work more on your weak subjects. Tip #3: Develop the habit of reading Newspaper/Current Affairs for IAS • The newspapers are the most important aspect of the IAS exam. • If you do not read the daily newspaper or follow the daily news for the IAS exam, you cannot hope to clear this exam. • The questions asked in the civil services exam are directly or indirectly connected with current affairs. Hence, it is very important to follow the relevant news items in your daily newspaper. Tip #4: Choosing Optional Subject wisely • The optional subject accounts for 500 marks in the UPSC final tally. • Some of the factors to keep in mind before selecting an optional are: • Interest in the subject • Prior knowledge in it/academic background • Overlap with the GS papers • Availability of coaching • Availability of study material
