SVR Global is a dependable Plug Valve Manufacturer in USA that offers a wide range of Plug Valves. Our Plug Valves are tested to ensure they meet all of our clients’ requirements. We also offer customized Plug Valves that are manufactured to specific industrial demands. What is a Plug Valve? Plug valves are classified as quarter-turn, rotary motion straight-line valves that are normally used in the fully open and fully closed positions. Plug valves are referred to as quarter-turn valves because the plug rotates 90 degrees between the fully open and fully closed positions. On/off valves either allow flow (on) or obstruct it completely (off). These valves are also known as isolation valves, because they can effectively shut down flow into a segment of a system, often for maintenance to be performed. Plug valves, also named Cock Valves obtain their name from the type of valve disc used. Plug valves are made up of a stopper across a passageway. The stopper is a plug with a hole through it. The hole is called the port. The plug can be cylindrical or conical. When the port is in alignment with the passageway the media can go through. When it is moved 90 degrees, the passageway is closed. The handle (actuator) indicates the position of the valve (in-line = open, perpendicular = closed). Externally, on the valve’s body, it has 2 housings at both ends to be screwed to the pipes. Inside the valve's body, we can find the shutter, which can be compared to some conical corks that can block the passage of the flow. On the top of the shutter (typically attached to the end with a larger diameter), we can see the stem to which the actuator is connected. Plug valves are not suitable for throttling/regulating flow although there is a diamond port design that is suitable for throttling applications. Plug valves are available in lubricated or non-lubricated designs. Types of Plug Valves: SVR plug valve specializes in a variety of plug valves, including Flange plug valve Threaded plug valve 3-way plug valve Lubricated plug valve Eccentric plug valve Lined plug valve Sleeved plug valve The most common plug valve model is the 2-port valve with two positions: open to making the fluid flow and closed to stop the flow. To go from open to close position the shutter rotates by 90 °. It is also possible for a plug valve to have more than two ports. A multiport plug valve has the great advantage to make the flow split into as many ports as the valve has. Applications of Plug Valves: Plug valves are often used in the following applications: Chemical service Corrosive substances Vacuum to high-pressure Oil piping systems Extreme temperature flow applications High-pressure flow applications Advantages of Plug Valves: Simple design with minimal parts Allow for in-line maintenance. Low flow resistance Provide dependable leak-free service. The use of many ports reduces the required valves and allows flow direction changes. Tight shut-off Fast-acting Little pressure drop Fire safety and durability- Because the actual plug and body seating surface are not exposed to the line fluid, there is less chance of corrosion or erosion. Versatile enough to be used with huge flow rates. Plug valves are simple to open and close (except for large dimensions). Easy to assemble and operate. There are fewer rotating components. Require relatively little upkeep. Ensure a tight seal. Has a low initial cost. May be readily removed for maintenance, repair and cleaning. Suitable for multiport applications Lubricated plug valves seat problems are easily repaired in line with the addition of grease. Disadvantages of Plug Valves: Because of the high friction, they require more force to operate. Larger valves require an actuator. Experiences pressure drop due to reduced port pressure. Incompatible with throttling applications. Have the potential to be irritating. The tapered plug design results in a smaller port. Because of the conic plug, the plug valve transitions narrow flows. Expensive. More substantial. More space is required. The plug valve seat is often constructed from plastic or polymer materials, this makes the valve ill-suited to high-temperature applications. Industries that use Plug Valves: Plug valves are used in a variety of industries, including Oil and gas Chemicals Power generation Production Wastewater treatment Description of Plug Valves: SVR Global is a dependable Plug Valve Manufacturer in USA that has the following features- Body material: Cast Carbon steel plug valve (WCC, WCB, WC6), Stainless Steel plug valve [SS316, SS304, SS316L, SS904L, CF8, CF8M, F31L, F91], Duplex Steel and Super Duplex Steel, Plug valve (F51, F53, F55), Cast iron, Ductile Iron.
