I remembered during the past year, I'm having an intimate conversation with an immigration consulate to Canada, and she explained to me one fact that has haunted my young mind forever. “The poverty line at the moment is at 35, 000 pesos. If the monthly income falls below that line, you're already considered poor.” It had become essentially the most alarming reality I’ve heard, but that was the mouth of reality getting a bite at me. The fact that I have been employed for the last six years finally hit home; that I am still undeniably poor as my monthly income did fall below that line. Merely looking at the mound of payslips I've collected all those years of working, I began to wonder where my money went, and I got furious I have wasted so much of it for absolute junk. There is just too much gunk in our life that people need to clean; unnecessary whims and impulse purchases that never bring security to that particular desired financial stability. You can start redirecting ourselves and incorporate financial planning with your future goals. By simply following the guidelines created by various financial advisers, you can simplify their insights into three initial pointers that will jumpstart our way to a limitless financial pool. - Aim for a Debt-Free Life. At this moment, plan to clear your debts and to stay away from temptations which can degrade your credit score. Write this on a piece of paper when necessary, and maintain this as your mantra. Those are the traps that we young professional’s usually traipsed into, and just in case you have cleared any outstanding balances pending within your name can you then have mobility with your money. - Always adhere to your budget. Bring commitment to your ambition of financial freedom by prioritizing just the things that is important and practical. That expensive cute scarf you saw in the mall? Forget it. If it is out of your budget, forget it. A little bit of sacrifice and tough willpower will probably be your stronghold, and by staying firm in saying “No,” you are going to create a huge difference between what you want as well as what you need. - Increase your income. You heard me right. Get another job by having a higher pay, and have a part-time job other than your full-time gig. At that point, in case you are still young, make use of your youth well. Don’t let a lazy attitude ruin your daily life. Remember, if you invest young, you could have a longer period to grow. What those financial gurus’ kept on saying was the absolute truth, that the root of all evil isn't money but poverty. As a yuppie living by myself for about a decade, I have learned one valuable lesson: You are never too young to gain financial freedom and you are never too late to start. This is just what we always remind to everybody and to our people in Truly Rich Club: “Do not blame other people for your financial problem.
