Changing the entire Indian Irrigation Image – a heart touching story! This is a soul tingling story of one of our highly ambitious customer in Odisha who aspired to bring a facelift to the Indian farmers. This is how Rajendre allias Raj used our pumps to reap the best of our technologies till date. This is how water pumps in Odisha brought a complete makeover to the irrigation procedures in Odisha. The inspiring beginning: Rajendre Soren is an established engineer whose roots belonged to the lands of Odisha. His origin traces back to the agricultural lands of Odisha where his father and forefathers underwent blood wrenching labour to transform the barren land into most fertile zones. Little Raj was born in Golamunda, Odisha and had always dreamt of reducing his father’s hurdles and bring to the village advanced technology that would rather change the ignorant and strained lives of every farmers. His dreams bore fruit. After an excellence in architecture and engineering, he decided to use his skills to bring a sigh of respite to the estranged farmers of remote lands in every state of India. During the early fall of 2012, when Raj set his footstep to his native, he plunged into taking notes to the challenges of farmers that could be widely addressed by using modern day technology. • Less than 10% of agricultural farms had access to any modern devices that could have brought more moisture to the fields and helped in more production. • The lands were over-flown by water during excess downpour on monsoon which destroyed massive growth of grains and nulled the year long labour of the half starved farmers. • Maintenance of a water reservoir could have solved the issue of water scarcity during drought. Changing the Irrigation Process: the turmoil! Raj understood that addressing the issue was going to be more challenging as people were ignorant and were accustomed with primitive methods of irrigation. Here, making every body learn the basics of utilizing a modern day tool and making them familiar with the advantages was the most daunting task. Pumps were the most vital ingredient required to solve the issue of farming lands in Odisha. There are several pumps prevailing in the market that could be well utilized for irrigation purpose. It stayed the focused instrument which Raj wanted to install in farms to bring a dramatic change to the overall growth of production. He was though backed by his father and his maternal uncle, others were sceptic and few others were resilient in changing their views against the utilization of modern day techniques. But he was determined to do what he wanted. He called us to know if we can help in his project and bring success. The first task to acknowledge farmers on new technologies was started by Raj and some of his older classmates who did not have a lucky breakaway to a city to pursue higher courses. However, the inquisitive youths started a relentless hours of educating the primitive farmers to use technologies for the best. Funding was another main issue. Installation of over 150 units of pumps in across 30 villages was what Raj up to. With several visits to the collectorate office, Raj was finally equipped with enough funds to buy and install over 100 water pumps. But, alongside laid a greater invisible turmoil that he was yet to confront with. Major challenges were how to get the required electrical power, where to place the pumps, how to get the connection with the nearest reservoir and how to get the water fruitfully supplied to the thirsty lands. The Solar Water Pumps: A sigh of technological relief The agribusiness segment in India is exceptionally subject to the occasional rainfall and a dependable watering system framework. Watering system expense, or the expense of the vitality (power or diesel) to drive the water pumps, constitutes up to 30% of the aggregate info cost for an agriculturist. It is assessed that there are around 25 million watering system pumps in India. Of these, around 8-10 million pumps are Diesel-run, while the rest are electric pumps. The real difficulties confronted by the agriculturists incorporate the successive force blackouts, and the increasing expense of diesel. Both these variables antagonistically influence the ranch profitability, and there is a reasonable requirement for option choices. The issue is exacerbated by the way that in a few expresses, the free power gave to the farmers are not in any case metered, and there is no real way to know how a significant part of the power is used. Over 150 water pumps and still counting: Golamunda’s agricultural fate took a drastic turn after the much hyped joint initiative by CRI and Rajendre Soren. With over 150 units of water pumps installed all across the fertile lands of Golamunda, the village is now an inspiration to the others flanked by. Not only Raj, but we as a team of expert pump engineers dream to turn the Indian agricultural health in coming years so that monsoon waters can be trapped and used during the drying and dieing summer. We have more inspirational stories to tell, to make people know how pumps can make India more productive, more profitable!
