So far, there are two major players in the metaverse. Epic Games and its many avid users claim that Fortnite is already a metaverse. Here is what Mr. Tim Sweeny Senior Epic Games CEO comments on metaverse and what it is: “Metaverse is not an App Store with a catalog of titles. In the heat of the moment, you and your friends and your appearance and makeup can go from place to place and have a unique experience while you keep in touch with each other in the community. ” Epic Games has always been passionate about metaverse and has aspirations to improve on it. Multiplayer online games are not a real thing but have a few similarities. Fortnite has already expanded its product line, hosting concerts, product events, and more in its digital world. This further provided the context for Mr Sweeney's vision of metaverse and future. Metaverse - Impact on Businesses The epidemic has been the cause of the rapid growth of many businesses around the world. Previously, few companies were open to using the digital operating system. However, with the epidemic, things changed for weeks and businesses were forced to move to the digital world in order to continue their business. Businesses have evolved into a working model from home during the violence, and many are now using a mixed approach. The next level of work from home involves helping people to work and participate in a sense of belonging. On Facebook's, Horizon Workrooms, an avatar-based workplace, is a new technology running. It is Facebook's first step in creating a full sense of reality that is designed specifically for people to work together. Horizon Workrooms fits in well with Facebook’s goals of building what is called a metaverse. Moving beyond the workspaces, in business metrics, companies will have complete control over their meta world, and what really happens there. From having their own dress codes to selling products within the platform, businesses can create their own small world there. For example, if you are a retailer with a virtual reality store, you can display all your products on the shelves. Your customers can pick up products, view them and click to buy them. Material can then be sent to their home.
