blog details: To gain a clearer understanding of the ‘value’ of accredited certification, the International Accreditation Forum (IAF) carried out a survey of businesses in 40 different economies. Over 4,000 responses were received from businesses of all sizes operating across a diverse range of industries – worldwide. Over a quarter of respondents were either finance directors, marketing managers or other senior management personnel indicating that the value of certification is recognized across the spectrum of business functions. Certifications are not just for IT and are equal. Business certifications are also highly prized and valued.
Businesses value people with certifications and the only question is the certification bodies they rely on to deliver well-trained employees. Using an accredited certification body assures the organizations that the organization will get the business benefits and value it pays for in that salary to the certified person. The is the real value of certification.
In the International Accreditation Forum (IAF) survey over 80% of all respondents reported that certification had added value to their organization. As a more quantifiable measure, around half of all participants have seen an increase in sales as a direct result of the certification. Simply put they are getting a more efficient and productive employee.
And it’s that internal business improvement was given by nearly half of all survey participants as the main driver for seeking certification, while approximately one-third said it was a requirement of their customers and over 80% confirmed that certification had helped them meet national regulatory requirements. Businesses that Contract and Sub-Contract to Government must demonstrate their employees are highly skilled in their roles.
Taken together, these figures indicate that certification is something organizations are choosing to improve internal operations and to provide B2C customers and B2B client confidence. Also, it’s not just the larger companies that are realizing these benefits though, as nearly two-thirds of respondents of the survey work in small businesses, half of which have less than 50 employees.
For the individual, certifications are door openers to any role you want to get into or any job you want to apply for. Get a recognized certification in that field and job recruiters will pay closer attention to your resume than those without the certification.
